SANITATION STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURES
SSOP 5: Personal Hygiene
• All employees must meet the personal Hygiene requirements before entering the production plant.
• Washing and sterilizing equipments must be fully provided at appropriate places and in good working condition.
• The company must set up a plan for regular maintenance the hand washing and sterilizing equipments as well as for hygiene ones.
• All the employees and workers of the production plant must be trained and understand well about the goals and methods of personal and industrial Hygiene.
2. The current conditions of the company:
• All the employees of the company are fully equipped with protectors.
• Washing and sterilizing equipments are available at the factory entrance, restrooms and other necessary places.
• The employees are sufficiently provided with water taps not operating by hand.
• There are proper notices to remind the employees of washing their hands before entering the production plant or at the break.
• Tubs for sterilizing boots are placed at washing area and the employees are required to have their hands sterilized before entering the production plant.
• The company has got a staff specially trained for examining personal hygiene at the plant entrances and only allowing employee that meets the hygiene requirements to enter the plant.
• Sanitation area is located outside the production area and separated from production department.
• There are separate changing rooms for men and women; protector changing rooms and hanging racks for employees who deal with complete products.
• Protector changing room is equipped with cabinets for storing tools, personal things for individuals; all normal clothing (not protectors) isn’t hung on racks, arranged tidily in the personal cabinets. Absolutely don’t keep foods in the cabinet.
• Protectors must be fully worn when employees enter the plant. If they want to go out, it is required that they change their protectors.
3. Procedures to follow:
• Using suds (soap water) indirectly from the valve for washing.
• Assure the sufficient of the amount of soap and Chlorine for washing and sterilizing hands.
• Water used for hand sterilization has the Chlorine concentration of 10 ppm.
• Water used for boot sterilization has the Chlorine concentration of 100 – 200 ppm.
• Provide the employees with sufficient number of proper toilet rooms at the most crowded hours. (Men and women separated).
• Full washing equipments, soap and hand wiping cloth at each room
• Available toilet paper and trash can at each room
• Regularly sanitize and check the toilets to avoid problems of stuck or damage that may impact on the surrounding environment.
• The Industrial Hygiene Unit is responsible for sanitizing, sterilizing and supplying the toilets with necessities.
• When contact with any tool or tainting substance, do sanitization and sterilization of hands following steps as regulated.
• Employees, workers, visitors… have to fully wear protectors as regulated by the company, not use nail paint, long finger nail; not wear personal jewelries, not use perfume, attar… when enter the plant.
• Before entering the production plant, the workers must have their hands sanitized and sterilized as regulated.
Steps to sanitize and sterilize hands before entering the production plant:
o Step 1: wash with clean water
o Step 2: wash with soap; use soap to clean the whole fingers (all the sides), finger crevices and even the wrist.
o Step 3: wash again with water to clean the soap off.
o Step 4: dip both hand deep into Chlorine solution 10ppm.
o Step 5: wash again with water to clean all Chlorine off.
o Wipe clean the hands with clean cloth.
o Spray alcohol on the whole 2 hands.
4. Supervising and Assigning duties:
• The team leaders are responsible for carrying out this code.
• The workers of each team are responsible for strictly following this code.
• The employee on duty of Hygiene Unit is responsible for reminding the workers of following this code.
• The QC in charge at the teams is responsible for supervising the personal Hygiene twice before work.
The inspection result is recorded in the Inspection form of Daily sanitization (personal hygiene)
• To make sure that the workers involving in producing are not the sources for contamination, for once a week, The Microorganism (Control) Department of the company takes samples of personal Hygiene rotated among plants and areas right after when the workers sanitize and sterilize their hands.
• Periodically for once every 3 months, this department takes sample of industrial hygiene examined by the authorized offices (NAFIQAVED).
• Any amendment to this code must be approved by the Board of Directors.
5. Corrective actions:
• The QC at Production areas and hygiene employees on duty, when find out that any worker does not follow the regulations on sanitization and sterilization, absolutely never allow him/her to enter the production plants and required that he/she has to follow the steps as regulated above till satisfactory to be able to enter the plants.
• When discover any sanitizer and sterilizer broken or damaged, report immediately to the technical group to repair.
• The Microorganism Department takes sample for microorganism test, analyzes the result and takes corrective actions if the result is not satisfactory.
• Records on the implementation of this code are verified by the leader of HACCP team or the leader/deputy leader of Production Management department (members of HACCP).
• Reports on results of Microorganism tests of the Microorganism Department of the company are verified by the leader/deputy leader of Microorganism Department
• Plan to take sample test of worker’s hands; the result is recorded in the Microorganism Test Note.
• Inspection form of Daily sanitization (personal sanitization)
All the documents and Forms recording the implementation of this code that are verified must be stored in the records of Company’s SSOP for at least 02 years.
